Fire Safety Products

The fire safety products that you need in your home depend on the type of house that you live in and the circumstance of all members of the household - make a checklist and see what fire safety products should be in place in your home.

Fire Safety Products

There are a lot of fire safety products out there that you definitely do not need and that companies sell purely for the sake of making money, but there are other fire safety products that should be in every home.

The ones you cannot do without

Rule number one to ensure fire safety in every building, but most importantly in your home are smoke alarms. They are the things that save more lives every year from fires than anything else. Most home fires occur during the night when most of us are sleeping and they generally start in the lower levels of the home. Both of these facts are strikes against your fire safety, but the smoke alarms counter that strike by providing you and your family with its first line of defense. It is advised that every home has smoke alarms not only on every level of the home, but outside of every bedroom as well. Smoke alarms are very affordable now and if your home does not have the right amount of alarms, it is in your best interest to fit them into the budget as soon as possible. They save lives all the time.

There are also many fire hazards in the kitchen where you not only keep some harmful chemicals, but also where there are some appliances that have the potential to start a fire. Insure kitchen safety by doing a thorough check of the kitchen and identifying all potential dangers. Burner covers are a good investment to make as many fires start by people placing things on burners that then catch fire. Every kitchen should also be equipped with a fire extinguisher that is easily accessible to curb a fire early before it gets out of hand.

One fire safety tip that should not have to be reiterated is - DO NOT SMOKE IN THE HOUSE! Not only is it detrimental to the health of everyone else that lives in the home, it is also the number one reason that fires start in the home. Keep fire extinguishers

handy and accessible. Stay safe always, but feel confident in knowing that your fire extinguisher is nearby in the event of a fire. Just make sure you know how to use it!
