Although many fires are man-made, there are some fires that can be attributed to natural disasters. For example, there are certain dangers after some natural disasters that can cause a fire. Many people don't think of fire safety tips for these scenarios, but they occur as often as any other scenario. When it comes to which fire safety tip is the most useful, one word comes to mind -- Caution. While making preparations for any natural disaster that may arise, make sure fire safety is part of your planning. Here are certain things to keep in mind when it comes to fire safety after a natural disaster.

Fire Safety Tips: After The Disaster

After a natural disaster there are many hidden dangers, dangers we really don't think of. For example, after an earthquake, tornado or hurricane, there may be leaky gas lines ready to rupture and explode with the tiniest spark. Debris can actually ignite and cause a fire. Be extra careful in such situations.

Generators, which are useful, can not only pose a threat to the air (releasing carbon monoxide and possibly suffocating those using it, the building is not well-ventilated), but it can also pose a fire hazard. Generators run on gasoline, which has fumes and can be ignited easily. So it's important to have a fire safety product on hand if you plan on using these generator type things.

  1. Combustible liquids could be lying around.
  2. There is a great danger of them exploding or catching on fire and ruining a home or property. Make sure to keep a lookout for such chemicals and liquids. Make sure they are locked away in a cool dry place ahead of time if possible.

These are the types of dangers we need to be aware of, and we need to keep these fire safety tips in mind. Although these are hidden dangers, they are dangers, and we must be aware. This fire safety week, take the time to learn the dangers and how to prevent them from become more harmful, and protection in case you need to deal with them.
