Follow A Couple Of Good Pool Safety Tips
Having a pool in the backyard can be a lot of fun for the whole family. But, when we get so used to its presence, we can often forget what a danger it actually presents. More children under the age of 5 die from drowning each year than for any other reason, and those that do survive drowning related accidents are often left with severe brain damage. This is a disturbing fact that should shock all of us into paying more attention to the pool safety tips that can make a world of difference.
Get some pool safety tips in place and then enforce them strictly
One of the most important things to have in your pool area are pool fences. But, in addition to those you should also have a list of all of the rules that are to be followed by all of those in the pool area. We need to get as much information as we can to determine what it is that we need to make as our rules. Checking with your local authorities is a great place to start as they will have pool safety tips that will pertain particularly to your area, as well as some of the regulations that may be in place in your area. They will generally have pamphlets that you can take with you that are packed with useful information for you and your family to peruse.
Here are some things to consider making a part of your pool routine:
- Constant supervision - a pool safety tip that cannot be ignored!
- Remove all toys from the pool when not being used - little ones can be tempted to reach for them.
- Consider an alarm for the pool that will sound if anything enters the pool - also a good idea for those with pets.
- Make sure there is a telephone in the area in case of emergency - every second counts!
- One of the best home safety tips is to keep a list of all emergency phone numbers near the phone.
- Learn CPR - check your local are for classes.
If you and your family are lucky enough to have a pool, make sure that you keep the fun going and make pool safety your top priority. A plan is what you require.
